Costa D'en Blanes, Mallorca
Costa D'en Blanes literally means “The coast of the Blanes”, referring to a well known family on the island who owned and still owns large areas of land west of Palma.
Costa D´en Blanes is today a residential, very thought after area with approximately 450 villas nestling on a hill above the fashionable harbour of Puerto Portals. A reminder of the Blanes family, beside the fact that some family members still own property on the hill, are the street names: the main road up the hill is Avenida Tomás Blanes Tolosa, baring the name of the father, leading into a square named Plaza Dolores Novila, the name of the mother. There are 9 streets with the names of their children leading off these main venues running through Costa D´en Blanes: C/ San Eduardo, C/ San Rafael, C/ Santa Lavinia, and so on. In the geographically lower area of Costa D´en Blanes towards the sea, one finds an excellent child friendly beach for superb safe swimming and a tennis club with several courts close to the popular "Mood Beach & Restaurant". Besides a number of apartment buildings and a hotel, there is “Marineland”, a marine park and zoo, also located at the sea's edge in Costa D'en Blanes presenting an internationally awarded dolphin show with sea lions as a great family entertainment show. Almost all villas in Costa D'en Blanes have sea views, some can claim to have breathtaking sea views and enjoy all day sun. Costa D'en Blanes is located 9 kilometres west of Palma and is easily reached via the Palma to Andratx motorway. Within 5 minutes of Costa d'en Blanes there are 6 international schools and the buzzing yachting marina of Puerto Portals is just two minutes away. In addition the Royal Bendinat Golf Course and the pretty beaches of Illetas, Puerto Portals and Old Bendinat are close-by. © Mallorca Estate Agents - First Mallorca 2009 |
