Puigpunyent, Mallorca
The village of Puigpunyent is located approximately 20 minutes north west of Palma and is ringed by lush hills and mountains on three sides. The village, spread over a profusely green valley, supports orange and lemon groves, almond trees, 100+ year old holm oak trees, elegant cypresses and colourful bougainvillea found hanging in abundance over the village garden walls.
Puigpunyent is sheltered from the occasional winter weather by the Tramuntana Mountain Range, the Puig de Galatzó - its peak reaching 1026 m, the Mola de la Planícia 942 m and Fita del Ram 833 m. The sun drenched mountain slopes are mostly covered by forest. A “torrente” or river bed, runs through the village flowing in the direction of Palma where it finds its way into the Mediterranean. During summer it may run dry but in winter it channels the water from the rains in the close-by mountains and high ground southwards. Puigpunyent sits at the cross roads to Capdella, Esporlas and Establiments. The road via Galilea to Capdella is both the most beautiful and spectacular route from the village. Just above and overlooking the village is the 5 star Hotel Son Net, a delightful and original 17th century stone built finca offering 31 luxurious rooms and suites. The village has 4 restaurants, bars and an 18th century church. © Mallorca Estate Agents - First Mallorca 2009 |
