Santa Ponsa, less than 20 minutes west of Palma and 35 minutes from the international airport, is one of Mallorca's oldest resorts. Originally a holiday destination based on hotels and holiday apartments, Santa Ponsa has expanded into an area offering an excellent opportunity for both holidays and quality permanent living. The original holidaying area close to the resort's main beach is still the location for the holiday makers visiting the area on tour operator's packages. However, Santa Ponsa has long left the package tour operators' image behind and has now expanded its boundaries as far as Port Adriano to the east and over many squares miles of the countryside.
