The municipality of Andratx is situated at the south-western end of the Sierra de Tramontana, the most important mountain range of the island. In the southern part of the municipality there are a series of valleys in which the population centres are located. The northern part of the municipality is mountainous and rugged, and is practically uninhabited. The highest point, at 927 m, is the Mola de s'Esclop or sa Madona (the lady), as it is popularly known due to its particular shape similar to a woman lying down with her hands on her chest. Off the coast of the municipality is the islet of Dragonera, declared a natural park in 1995 and accessible by sea from Puerto de Andratx.
