The Bulletin gets into the swing of things with its first Golf Cup

The Majorca Daily Bulletin yesterday held its first Bulletin Golf Cup at the Golf de Andratx club in Camp de Mar and conditions were excellent. Nearly 80 golfers arrived at the club just after 8am to register and also enjoy a building tournament breakfast at the Campino Restaurant. They were also all presented with a welcome pack which included a copy of the paper with the golf tournament supplement, a bottle of excellent Majorcan wine from the Macia Batle vineyard and a bottle of top quality Majorcan olive oil from Oli deMallorca.

Texas scramble

The tournament was an 18-hole Texas Scramble.The Texas Scramble isone of the most populartournament formats ingolf.The Texas Scramble’s basicformat is simple andstraight forward.Each player hits a teeshot on. The best ball, asdetermined by the captain,is selected for thesecond shot.Each member of theteam hits his or her shotfrom that spot.The process continuesuntil the hole is playedout.But, it was not just theTexas Scramble that thegolfers were playing towin yesterday. Therewere no less than ninetrophies up for grabs courtesyof Lafiore, the Majorcanartistic glass specialistsplus a car, courtesy ofOpel Mallorca, on the15th hole for any one whomanaged to score a holein one.

Snack and drinks

However, before getting to the 15th hole, the golferswere able to stop offat the Half way house andenjoy a snack and drinkscourtesy of Marc Fosh Catering.Also, our sponsorswere on hand to give theteams a business update.The golf competitiondrew to a close shortly after3pm and the playersand guests headed to theCampino Restaurant fortheir buffet gala meal andprize giving ceremonyand tombola.And then all of theplayers and guests enjoyeda Mediterraneanstyle buffet with freedrinks (wine, beer andsoft-drinks throughoutthe meal and prize givingceremony).The tombola featuredsome excellent prizesprovided by a wide rangeof local businesses includingEl Corte Ingles,Ca’n Eduardo, MaciaBatle, Sandro, Tristan, andBarcos Azules and LauraAshley.Our sincere thanks toeveryone who tookpartwho made theevent such amajor success.
